๐Ÿš€ In 2014, I started my career in managing teams and then projects. Since then, from time to time, I have come across an attitude towards the Project Manager as a person who can and should do any work on the project. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ผ Many senior managers believe that in addition to their immediate tasks, PMs can and should easily perform the tasks of a business analysts, solution architects, developers, QAs, DevOps engineers, etc. ๐Ÿค– I think this opinion is formed by colleagues who do not fully understand what the work of the project manager is. Indeed, I can perform these tasks. ๐Ÿ’ช Nevertheless, I believe every professional, including the project manager, should only perform their immediate tasks. Only in this case will PM be effective, and the results of their work will benefit the company. ๐Ÿ’ฐ
The project manager performs a huge number of tasks throughout the project, starting from initiation and ending with closure. ๐Ÿ“Š Sometimes, the results of their work seem unnoticeable during the project. However, it is the meticulous, day-to-day work of the Project Manager that determines the successful completion of the project. It is the Project Manager who is fully responsible for the project and for the team. The work of a project manager is similar to that of a coach. โ›นโ€โ™‚๏ธ When a team wins, it's the players' merit ๐Ÿ‘ ; when a team loses, it's the coach's fault. ๐Ÿ‘Ž The same thing happens on the project. If the project is successful, everyone pays tribute to the team; if the project is unsuccessful, then the management blames the Project Manager for the failure.
I would like the Project Manager not to be considered a machine that can work for the whole team 24 hours a day, seven days a week. โฒ In addition, I would like Project Managers to do only their work and not take on the tasks of the entire team. ๐Ÿšซ By observing these conditions, the company's managers can be sure that each project will be successful. ๐Ÿ†
